The Owl is Santa Clara University’s undergraduate-only, student-run literary arts magazine. Poetry, prose, music, visual art, film, and photography are presented via a multi-modal platform—from publication on our website, to a short chapbook at the end of the academic year.*   

Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis from September 12, 2026 through January 11, 2026. Whatever you create, we hope to publish! If we love it a lot, you may even win a cash prize! 

However there is special consideration for work submitted in the categories section during the Round 1 and 2 cycles:

Round 1 deadline: Oct 30, 2026

Round 2 deadline: Nov 30, 2026

Final Deadline: January 11, 2026

In this form, submit up to 3 literary pieces in the .doc or .docx file format
